Walking Tours –

Newport is a very walk-able city rich in history and architecture. Newport offers many tours showcasing the different aspects of the city.

Newport’s Old Quarter highlights the cultural and historical sites of Colonial Newport. Washington Square, nearby Clarke and Division Streets, as well as the entire Point neighborhood has an enormous degree of architectural integrity. A tour will take you to the Bellevue Avenue Historic District where you can see all of the Gilded Age mansions along the scenic coast.


Outdoor Recreation –

The Cliff Walk, a 3.5 mile path running from Memorial Boulevard to Ocean Drive, is world famous for combining the Newport mansions’ architectural history with the beauty of the enormous cliff rocks overlooking the Newport shoreline.

Newport offers many stunning beaches for swimming and surfing, including Easton’s Beach, at the start of the Cliff Walk. Easton’s is the city’s largest public ocean surf beach at three-quarters of a mile long. Known as the sailing capital of the world, Newport is home to some of the finest yachts in the country, including a fleet of America’s Cup 12-meter sailboats.


Music –

The Newport Jazz Festival is held every summer. It was established in 1954 by the jazz impresario George Wein, prompted by socialite Elaine Lorillard, whose wealthy husband helped finance the festival’s startup.

The Newport Folk Festival is an annual folk-oriented music festival, which began in July 1959 as a counterpart to the previously established Newport Jazz Festival. The festival features performances by folk, blues, country, bluegrass and rock musicians.

Each of these festivals draw world renowned musicians and is one of the highlights of summer in Newport.
